Mayflower 2.0 Imports Initiated
This is a quick update to let you know that we have implemented a member matching solution for Mayflower 2.0 sites and have initiated limited Mayflower 2.0 migrations over the weekend. We will be ramping things up over the next week, and in the coming days we should have more details on ETA for fulfilling the 2.0 backlog. We have proactively prepared the content for all of the 2.0 orders we’ve received to date, so we do not anticipate any issues getting the backlog cleared out in a timely manner.
Thank you all for your patience as we continue to serve you to our fullest capacity.
Thank you for all your dedication and hard work on behalf of us “MyFamily” migrators! Still haven’t heard from you regarding how ,if possible, I can add members to our Spokt. site who don’t necessarily have email addresses, but frequent our family activities and updates. Thank you. Eve.
Quick question. You have migrated (successfully!) the only My Family 1.0 site that I plan to transfer. I understand that I must not alter in any way the information on that My Family site. BUT, I have a 2.0 site on My Family that I may want to migrate in the near future. I have not accessed that 2.0 site for some time, have forgotten my password and may have to reset the password to that 2.0 site in order to gain access. Will resetting the password to the 2.0 site in any way interfere with the already complete migration of my 1.0 site, or cause a problem for you if I decide to migrate the 2.0 site?
Thanks! You guys (and gals?) are great!
Hi Pam,
The best thing would be to combine your MyFamily.com accounts into one then contact support so we can build a comprehensive list of your site memberships.
How about “member matching” on 1.0?? Many of our members are not on Spokt…and it seems they are all the ones without an email address on MyFamily.com 1.0??
Hi Eve,
Email addresses are important for member matching but we do our best with the data we have. We plan to add a manual matching tool later in the year.
We’re so thrilled that things seem to be working now. In our case, unfortunately, although the migration indicated it had saved thousands of files and photos, our new Hub was totally emtpy after the migration completed. No members, no photos, no discussions. Is it just that we have to wait a while for everything to make it in, or are there further instructions we need to follow after completing the migration to get everything to appear?
Hey guys, so it took about 30 minutes before anything appeared in our hub after the migration said it was completed, but now it’s showing up. Sorry for my impatience!
Hi Kayle,
It can take up to several hours for the import to complete after you finalize it. I’m glad yours finished in just 30 minutes!
Can I migrate a third site into my hub? That is what we originally planned. We did the first two 1.0 sites and have been waiting for the 2.0 site to merge with the others, as it is the smallest and we are all connected, related. Will this cause a problem? When I went to finalize, I got a warning message of sorts. I will not want to separate them later. I just want to make sure it won’t cause a problem with the migration before I go forward, since I got your pop up message. Thanks.
Hi Debbie, That warning is for people who accidentally merge multiple sites into a single hub, if that is what you want to do then go ahead.
My Family site is down, do I come back and ask Mayflower to “migrate” again or do you automatically keep trying to get into My Family site?
Hi Melba,
You need to keep trying! I’m so sorry but there isn’t anything we can do when MyFamily.com is down.
So how do I keep requesting and not get charged more than one time? I have been on My Family site today, it was working fine.
This last migration went well. Thank you so much!!!! I can’t wait until the migrations are all complete and there is time to work on the new features. It is exciting!
I just wanted to publicly thank Spokt staff for working so hard under a limited time frame to give us back our two 2.0 websites we had for years and that we were so upset and discouraged about losing when Myfamily announced the shutdown.
I had looked to see what was available elsewhere, but there was nothing that came close. Yes all the pictures and videos are valuable but so was everything else, including all the comments that cannot be replaced. It is worth the money it costs to preserve so much that cannot be replaced and can be accessed by anyone in our circle of family and friends privately. We live so distant from each other and this is how we get together and share our life events and especially our children’s photos safely to those who cannot just go over and visit because of distance., Also the websites contain so much genealogy information as well.
Because of hard drive crashes, and other reasons for lost photos etc. and lost information, the years of precious information is all safe again, thanks to Spokt.
The feedback I received has been wonderful, full of thank yous that I must pass on to Spokt from the members, and I need to say a special thank You to Spokt for what they have given us. It is so perfect. Love also that they made the migration so simple and easy to understand. Also the invitations they send are again made so guests can easily join us. As one said to me THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. The capital letters are intentional.
For those waiting you will not be disappointed!!!! The support has been amazing for me as well . I am so happy I have chosen Spokt for our new safe Home on the web. Carol Ann Walker
I sent you a message to customer support and am posting this here too because I am absolutely desperate…. you are exporting my 2.0 site and there is an error message on my hub home right now telling me myfamily is saying my site is retired and you’ve asked them to activate it so you can export my stuff…. I called them directly and they are now telling me there IS no 2.0 site for me, only my 1.0 site that I have not used in five years… My 2.0 site has simply vanished off the face of the earth and they have no answer as to why, only that their developers will need to look into it and get back to me…. I am absolutely hysterical right now. You were exporting my data until 24 hours ago!!! How on earth can my site just no longer exist?! There are only 11 days left to save my data and I cannot even access my own site to do it myself because according to ancestry, it doesn’t exist…
Please, please help.
Hi Melanie,
It looks like support was able to resolve this issue and complete your migration.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! I can hardly believe it…. My data is transferred and is now on my hub… I can see pictures! And news! And members! I am so happy… Thank you for all your hard work. I know it’s been manic for you all at Spokt, but I am so very grateful for what you have done in such a short space of time… I have a family site again!!!
One last question… I see all my members listed, but I haven’t invited them to join the site yet… Do I need to physically invite them, or is it automatic? Are they already here? What action is now needed on my part to get them connected to the site?
Again, HUGE thanks for everything the Spokt team has done and continues to do.
I’m still waiting for my 2.0 so I can invite my family members to the hub. Mayflower been on exporting again since last week! Just hope they don’t forget about me before the deadline.
